For my second week of the 2011 Community Marketing Challenge things went pretty well. I took a different route with hosting as I normally use HostGator but decided to use BlueHost.
Just to shake things up a bit. I’ve used numerous services before and the process is always fairly similar. I also took some screen captures in case I want to put together a how-to for newbies or if Sarah and I decide to use it to build up (or build out for later) our current community.
Here’s a quick run down of what was established this week:
Theme: I currently have Headway installed but I received a theme called, Gazette, as a limited time offer with the plugin I purchased.
All in One SEO Pack
BackupBuddy (soon to be installed)
Amazon Associates will drive my affiliate approach. I’ll be using WPZon Builder to help me build my Amazon product descriptions, reviews, images and buy buttons. I will likely combine strategy here with either Clickbank products or working directly with product vendors. First thing’s first; Amazon needs to be set up.
It’s a competitive niche but I’ll be reaching for the low-hanging fruit and gain momentum that way. Plus, I plan on staying in this niche for the long haul so I don’t mind the work it’ll take to build traffic and rank.
Inspiration for my site layout and colors is going to come from a mix of the industry leading sites. Some of them are a bit cluttered but I’ll research and incorporate some of the most compelling elements (from a click through perspective) on my site.
It’s going to be a fun weekend drafting some content!
