Hey all! Just wanted to give you a quick heads up about something new I’m going to be trying here in the next few weeks. One of the things I want to do with this site is cover hands-on case studies where you can see me actually working on my websites and experimenting with new techniques.
Well, the perfect opportunity to start doing this just came up… I’ve heard really great things about BuildMyRank.com (a one-way backlinking service), but they’ve been closed to new membership for the last few months. They’ve just reopened their doors today, and I’m going to find out if they’re as good as everyone says… 🙂
After reading through their website, I’m initially optimistic. I’ve used Linkvana (a similar program) in the past for my backlinking and had great results, but if BuildMyRank can compete at all in terms of results, it could be a lot cheaper (the price depends on the number of domains you promote). I’m also intrigued by the fact that they perform social bookmarking and RSS submissions on the links created through their platform, which is something that Linkvana doesn’t offer.
My biggest concern going into this is how targeted the blogs in their network are. When you’re building backlinks to a site, relevancy is important, as Google tends to give more weight to backlinks that come from related sites. How related the sites should be is up for debate, but basically, I don’t want the links for my snowshoeing page to be showing up on a home jewelry making blog… Relevancy hasn’t been an issue for me on Linkvana, so I’m curious to see if it will be an issue on BuildMyRank.
Anyways, I need a few days to get everything in order for this case study, but I’ll post more details on the site I’m going going to be building links to and how I’ll be measuring the results of the test over the weekend.
